Is KRAF Right for Your Tightening Workstation?

Start with your tightening torque, fastening-point layout, tool dimensions and positioning requirements. These four checks help you determine whether KRAF fits your workstation.

Low-Torque Tightening

Consider KRAF for tightening applications up to 10 Nm. Confirm the required torque and tool orientation before selecting a configuration.

Fastening-Point Coverage

Check your fastening points against the 700 mm working radius and 350 mm vertical travel. Include fixtures and obstacles when reviewing the arm’s movement.

Tool and Clamp Fit

The KR005-UCAF clamp accommodates tool clamping diameters of 25–44 mm. Share the tool’s clamping dimensions and weight to confirm suitability.

Position Detection Needs

Choose FN for applications without position detection, or FM for XY position detection. Confirm the controller and tool interfaces when planning a positioning system.

Choose Your KRAF Configuration

Select your position-detection option and folding direction to match your workstation. The four standard configurations share a 700 mm working radius and 350 mm vertical travel.

Without Position Detection FN CONFIGURATION

Choose FN when you need mechanical tool support and torque reaction without arm-position feedback.

With XY Position Detection FM CONFIGURATION

Choose FM when the workstation requires XY arm-position feedback. Confirm the controller and tool interfaces for the complete positioning setup.

Left-Fold or Right-Fold

Select the folding direction around your fastening points, fixture clearance and operator access. Use the illustrated layout to confirm the direction with KURAN.

Lightweight Support and Position Detection

KRAF combines carbon fiber arm sections, an adjustable balancer and a vertical guide assembly to support low-torque tightening tools. FM configurations add XY position feedback for a compatible positioning controller.

  • Carbon Fiber Arm Sections

    Lightweight carbon fiber arm sections support repeated tool movement between fastening points.

  • Adjustable Tool Balancing

    The adjustable balancer supports the tool load during operation. Provide your tool’s weight to confirm the appropriate balancing setup.

  • Guided Vertical Movement

    The vertical guide assembly provides 350 mm of travel for tool-height adjustment within the workstation.

  • XY Position Feedback

    FM configurations include XY position sensors. Pair the arm with a compatible controller to use position feedback in your workstation’s control process.

Working Reach and Installation Dimensions

Review the working radius, vertical travel and tool-side interface before planning your installation. Check the fastening-point layout, mounting position and fixture clearance together to confirm workstation fit.

Working Radius and Joint Rotation

R = 700 mm

The standard configuration provides a 700 mm working radius. Use the illustrated joint rotation ranges to review access to your fastening points.

Vertical Travel and Overall Height

D = 350 mm · H = 800 mm

A 350 mm vertical travel and 800 mm overall height help define the arm’s vertical installation space. Check these dimensions against your workpiece and fixture heights.
